About

I began this blog a few years ago following the death of my late wife Sydney. During her bout with cancer, my writings on caringbridge became a meaningful way to connect with community – those who loved our family as well as those who did not know us, but identified with our story. In addition, it became a therapeutic outlet for me.

This blog is the extension of our CaringBridge story and our family’s journey in recent years. After 2.5 years of being a single dad, I married Shannon Railing, now Gaylord, on 12/28/13. She was a widow also, with a little boy, Carson, and we were both amazed and excited to find each other. We are now integrating and blending our families and thankful for a time of healing for all six of us and my new “adopted dog”, Kodi.

Heaven forbid we ever teach our children “the right way to pray”! My 5-year old, Peter, is teaching me how to pray, worship and tell the truth. Jesus, who never spoke an idol word said, “Truly I say to you, unless you are converted and become like children, you will not enter the kingdom of heaven.” – Matthew 18:3

“The hearts of infants being free from avarice, what care they for a handful of silver more than for a handful of dust?” – Saady

Love you brother! Missin’ Sydney with you.

    Todd,

Even half-year anniversaries like this are so meaningful. Amy Kate and I came down to the visitation at Hope six months ago less a few days. So many were there that loved you, Sidney & family that we couldn’t get to you that night. Friend, you still in our prayers and your writings inspire me to love more because tomorrows on this side of eternity are never assured.
