Dear Sydney,

Six months ago today, your soul last graced this earth, and six months ago today we wept by your hospital bed, and you leapt into heaven. In one way, today marks distance from the trauma of losing you. As time passes, we are thankful for healing and restoration. In another way, today marks distance from having you, which makes us sad.

We miss you so much. It’s sad to see the world move on. It’s sad to see the winter pass with a new spring upon the horizon, and know that it will be without you. In some ways you are still here, and your impression on all of us lives on. But in other ways, around the house for example, your mark sadly fades as life goes on. We miss your smile, we miss your voice, we miss your smell.

Your presence is missed, not just in our home, but everywhere – among friends and family, in the kids, at the dinner table, at church, in the kitchen, and in the car.

We love you sweet girl. And we long for the day we can see you again.
