Comrades on the Journey

February 11, 2012

Last week was a tough week for three fellow comrades with brain tumors. Please keep the following individuals and their families in your prayers.

1. Ella Newmiller, a seven year old in Raleigh, whose family goes to the same church as Sydney’s parents, was diagnosed around the same time as Sydney. After a courageous battle, Ella passed away last week. Please pray for the family and the community that has surrounded her. Ella’s Webpage

2. Tripp Kimbrough, our dear friend and my housemate from college is a brain tumor survivor for 14 years. After three surgeries he was rendered cancer free and has enjoyed several years in this category. However, last week his MRI showed some enhancement and growth, which is very concerning. Please pray for Tripp and Anna and their family and friends.

3. John Purvis, a 29 year old diagnosed with a GBM five years ago, is another comrade in the brain tumor battle. John was also treated at Duke and visited the National Institute of Health after hearing of our positive experience there. Due to extensive chemo and radiation, John has had trouble with low platelets for the past several months. Meanwhile, his tumor has continued to grow and affect his functioning and cognition. Because of this, John made the difficult decision this past week to stop treatment. Please pray for John and his family. John’s CaringBridge Page
